Länsi-Pohja Hospital District

The Länsi-Pohja Hospital District is now in the baseline phase of the epidemic.

The Länsi-Pohja Hospital District is now in the baseline phase of the epidemic. During last week, 17 coronavirus infections were confirmed in the Länsi-Pohja Hospital District, approximately one-third of which were infections reported with people already in quarantine. Eight of these infections were confirmed with people who reside outside the area. A total of seven new coronavirus cases have confirmed so far this week.

The Regional Pandemic Working Group decided that Länsi-Pohja will continue to be in the baseline phase of the epidemic. The incidence rate is falling and there are currently no coronavirus patients receiving hospital treatment.

The coronavirus recommendations currently applied in the Länsi-Pohja area are listed on the Länsi-Pohja Hospital District website.

Vaccinations for young adults is important

To date, 69.8 percent of all people to receive the vaccine in the Länsi-Pohja Hospital District have received at least one dose. Approximately 44.9 percent of the people to receive the vaccine have received both doses.

There is still some improvements that need to be done with the vaccination coverage for people under 40. The Regional Pandemic Working Group recommends the vaccine for all people over 12 years of age. For the time being, vaccination appointments are well available in the municipalities of the region. Municipalities inform about vaccination matters on their websites.

The taking of the coronavirus vaccine not only benefits the person receiving the vaccine, but also fellow citizens, who, possibly due to illness or medication, will not receive adequate protection from the coronavirus from the vaccine. Achieving as good as possible vaccination coverage also plays a part in helping to avoid having to impose stricter restrictions.

The autumn influenza season has commenced and because of this coronavirus testing is somewhat congested. If there are a number of people sick within the same family, it is not necessary to test all family members for the coronavirus. For example, the testing of young children is not necessary, if the adults of the same family have had tests done.
