The translated version of the coronavirus review for Lapland is published weekly.
You still need to take a coronavirus test even when experiencing the mildest of symptoms, if you have the risk of being infected with a severe case of the coronavirus disease, or if you may have been exposed to the coronavirus, or you are employed in the social and health sector.

Lapland Hospital District

The Lapland Hospital District is in the community transmission phase of the epidemic.
The incidence rate based on the last two weeks (27 December – 9 January) is 2,092.1 per 100,000 inhabitants.
The incidence rate based on one week (3–9 January) is 1,358 per 100,000 inhabitants.
This incidence rate also includes cases of patients who live outside the Lapland Hospital District area. For this reason, the figure can differ from that announced by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) that does not count those living outside of Lapland.
Infections in all municipalities of the Lapland Hospital District
A total of 620 new cases have been reported since Tuesday.
66 of these infections are registered for the previous week. A total of 716 infections have been reported this week, of which just over half have been reported in Rovaniemi. This week, COVID-19 cases have been recorded in all municipalities of the Lapland Hospital District.
Last week (3–9 January) A total of 1,613 new coronavirus infections were confirmed in the Lapland Hospital District area. 59% of the infections were confirmed with residents of the region. 29% of the infections were found with people who live outside the Lapland Hospital District. 12% of cases of infections were reported with foreign visitors.
Most of last week’s infections were reported in Rovaniemi (723 infections). The next most significant cases of infection were found in Kittilä (332 infections), Inari (166 infections), and Kolari (153 infections). Infections were found in all the municipalities of the Lapland Hospital District. A total of 12,845 coronavirus tests were taken in the Lapland Hospital District, with 10,849 of these being rapid antigen tests. The proportion of positive test cases in relation to the total number of tests taken was 12.13 percent.

The total number of cases confirmed in the Lapland Hospital District on the basis of coronavirus tests conducted at testing stations is 6253. This figure also includes persons living outside the area.
New exposure sites (updated on 5 January)
The City of Rovaniemi has stopped reporting on potential exposure sites, as in practice exposure is now possible anywhere. Health-safety behaviour is all the more important in order to curb the rapid spread of the epidemic.

It is recommended that all visitors in those locations at the times mentioned monitor their own health and seek a COVID-19 test, even if experiencing the slightest of symptoms.
