The translated version of the coronavirus review for Lapland is published once a week.
Everyone staying in Lapland must take a coronavirus test even with the slightest of symptoms that are related to the coronavirus.

Lapland Hospital District

The Lapland Hospital District is in the baseline phase of the epidemic.

The incidence rate based on the last two weeks (28 June – 11 July) is 38.5 per 100,000 inhabitants.
The incidence rate based on one week (5–11 July) is 36.8 per 100,000 inhabitants.

This incidence rate also includes cases of patients who live outside the Lapland Hospital District area. For this reason, the figure can differ from that announced by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) that does not count those living outside of Lapland.  

All people who attended the NUTS Ylläs Pallas Trail Run on Friday 9 July and Saturday 10 July are urged to take a coronavirus test

A total of 15 coronavirus infections have been detected in the Lapland Hospital District this week.

Two people who are residents from other parts of Finland who participated in the NUTS Ylläs Pallas Trail run have been confirmed as having the coronavirus and have been exposed to other people during the event on Friday 9 July and Saturday 10 July.
These infected persons were spectators and participated in the competition. All those who took part in the event are urged to take a coronavirus test.

Last week a total of 43 new infections were confirmed in the Lapland Hospital District area. Most of these relate to the chain of transmissions identified at Rovaniemi. Last week, a record number of coronavirus tests were taken in the area, totalling 6,919. 6,706 of these tests were rapid antigen tests. Of these, 43 positive samples were confirmed. In relation to the number of tests taken, the proportion of positive results accounted for 0.62 percent.

The City of Rovaniemi and the Lapland Hospital District want to thank the people of the Rovaniemi region for being active in getting tested for COVID-19. Thanks to people’s responsibility, potential exposure has been ascertained and the coronavirus has calmed down for the time being.

The total number of cases confirmed in the Lapland Hospital District on the basis of coronavirus tests conducted at testing stations is 869. This figure also includes persons living outside the area.

Länsi-Pohja Hospital District

The Länsi-Pohja Hospital District is now in the baseline phase of the epidemic.
