Länsi-Pohja Hospital District

(information as of 17 November at 12:55)
The coronavirus review for the Länsi-Pohja Hospital District is mainly published on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The Länsi-Pohja Hospital District is currently in the community transmission phase of the epidemic.

In Tornio, the recommendation for a restriction in public gatherings of up to 50 people came into force – in other municipalities this issue will also be dealt with this week

The municipalities of the Meri-Lappi (Sea Lapland) region will this week deliberate the recommendation of the Pandemic Working Group concerning the restrictions of all indoor gatherings, public meetings, public events, and high-risk events to a maximum of 50 persons. A decision was taken yesterday in Tornio and this recommendation will remain in force until mid-December.

At its meeting convened today, the infectious disease physicians in the Meri-Lappi region have addressed the pandemic situation. The epidemic situation continues to be difficult and pressure on hospital care has increased. The central hospital currently has six coronavirus patients in care. There are nine coronavirus-positive persons being treated in health centre wards. Intensive care has also been used to treat coronavirus patients in the central hospital.

There has been a total of 31 new infections this week. 75% of last week’s cases were traceable. A total of 73 new cases were confirmed. The true number of people actually infected with COVID-19 is estimated to be significantly higher, so it is still important to continue all coronavirus safety measures.

The message from the infectious disease physicians in the Meri-Lappi region to the population is unequivocal: “People who have not received the vaccine must reduce social contacts to control the disease situation.”
